In this book discussion series, we will be reading books by authors from the United States and Canada. Many authors use the setting of their books as almost a character itself. We will explore how authors succeed or fail in describing and exploiting location as a plot device. As you read each novel, pay attention to plot, language, style, characters, themes, and particularly the differing ways in which these novels draw out the location where they take place.

Wendy Blake is a bookseller at the Country Bookshelf. She loves to read mysteries and recommend them to her customers. Wendy has a B.S. in Biology from the University of Wisconsin, a M.S. in Genetics from the University of Colorado, and a law degree from the University of Houston.
