Course Info: From the Federalists through to the Tea Party, this course will explore the origins of political factions in the United States and attempt to follow the various threads of conservatism and liberalism that form the basis of current political thought. Using historical articles, political cartoons and other sources, we will incorporate lecture and discussion to try to understand where some of the ideas and motivations that pervade our current political “discourse” originated.

Bill-StoddartInstructor Bio: Bill Stoddart has taught a number of courses in U.S. History, U.S. and Comparative Government, and Philosophy, among other subjects, over the years. He is a former instructor at Bozeman High School and MSU, and currently owns a financial planning and advisory business in Bozeman.
